A US Chess Federation (USCF) rated AND UNRATED scholastic open tournament for K-8th grade players! ALL GENDERS WELCOME! ALL RATED PARTICIPANTS MUST BE MEMBERS OF THE USCF! USCF membership can be purchased online at: https://secure2.uschess.org/webstore/member.php

Tournament entry fee – FREE!!


Rated Sections – K-1 Open, K-1 U350, K-3 Open, K-3 U600, K-6 Open, K-6 U600,

K-8 Open, K-8 U700, K-12 Open, K-12 U1000

Unrated Sections – K-1, K-3, K-6, K-8

Awards – Individual 1st - 4th place trophy for each section. Top team trophy for each section. (Team = 4 players from same school.) No club teams are eligible for team trophies; school, (or homeschool), teams only. Top female trophy for each section! Gift cards awarded:

K-12 Open 1st - $150, 2nd - $75, 3rd - $25! K-8 Open 1st - $75, 2nd - $25!

Mayor's Cup awarded to highest scoring DC student of each Open section!

4 – SS, G/30 or G/25;d5

4 rounds (games), Swiss System (everyone plays 4 games).

(*Special - High School Open Section: 1st two rounds G/30 or G/25;d5, rounds 3 & 4 G/45 or G/40;d5.)

We have a limited amount of equipment to provide so please bring your chess sets; and chess clocks, (if you have them), set for G/30 or G/25;d5.
